Why use this service? While cleaning is important, it isn't enough to reduce the number of germs and bacteria present. Wiping, dusting, sweeping, mopping, are important but, even cleaning with hot soapy water won't keep germs at bay. GermRid’s goal is to eliminate, not reduce, germs and bacteria. Be proactive and help prevent the spread of disease and growth of germs and bacteria.
Is the product safe? We use safe, 100% natural ingredient, non-toxic sanitizers and disinfectants that are EPA registered and approved.
Does it work on Coronavirus?
The product is on the EPA’s list of Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of the COVID-19. Please look at germ kill testing data and safety data sheet. EPA Registration number 93040-1.
Is it effective on getting rid of typical germs and bacteria? We have two technologies that are used to ensure effective remediation of germs, bacteria and odors. Using the high powered, EPA approved disinfecting solution it will kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria. We combine that with the technology of using the misting machines, we provided far greater room coverage and can reach those hard to get to surfaces where germs and bacteria are lurking.
What ingredients are in the product? Water, Salt and Vinegar. This 100% natural product is made at the time of your treatment. By using electricity to mix the ingredients it changes their chemical composition and the result is a powerful disinfectant. It is science in a bottle.
What’s the science behind the solution? The main ingredient is salt, which is a compound comprised of sodium and chloride. During this process, sodium ions are positively charged and chloride ions are negatively charged. Our electrochemical activation process exposes these ions to a low electrical charge. The positive side of the charge electrochemically converts the chloride ion (Cl) to hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which is a powerful sanitizer, and the negative side of the charge electrochemically converts the sodium ion (Na) into sodium hydroxide (NaOH), which is a cleaning compound often found in soaps and detergents. The hypochlorous solution is represented as Free Available Chlorine (FAC) that has 80-200 times the sanitizing power of chlorine bleach. Since it is produced at a near neutral pH, it won't bleach out furniture or clothes.
It is the same as diluted bleach?
No, hypochlorous acid is not the same as bleach; it has a different chemical composition than bleach (sodium hypochlorite). The formula for sodium hypochlorite is NaOCl and the formula for hypochlorous acid is HOCl. Hypochlorous acid is the same substance your white blood cells produce to fight infection. And it's so gentle it's used in wound healing, eye care and veterinary care products. Bleach is defined as 1) having a pH of 11+ 2) being at a concentration high enough to remove the color from fabric and 3) 99%+ NaOCl; none of these apply to hypochlorous acid.
How long does it take to work?
Products made using the electrochemical activation process and will kill most bacteria in less than 30 seconds, including some of the nastiest ones like E.coli, MRSA, and norovirus. We suggest giving the product a dwell time of 13-15 minutes for full effectiveness against different germs and bacteria.
Can I go into the room after treatment?
We typically recommend that clients wait the dwell time before returning to the room. There will be a smell of light chlorine for about 10 -15 minutes, then it dissipates and the rooms just smells fresh. Because there are no toxins you may reenter rooms immediately after the treatment. Because we utilize the fogging machine, the product dries very quickly with this application without the use of nasty chemical drying agents.
How long does it last? The benefits of using this disinfectant last for 30-60 days, as long as new contaminants are not reintroduced to the surface or area.
Is it safe to use around children and pets? Absolutely, electrolyzed products have no skin or respiratory allergens or irritants. It leaves no chemical residue, emits no fumes, and doesn't emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and has no fragrance. This is important because chemicals used to create fragrances in store-bought cleaning and sanitizing products are classified as hormone disruptors, allergens, carcinogens, neurotoxins, and triggers for asthma. It is 100% natural.
